1. Development of Tourism Objects
Development is a process, a way of making developing the desired target (KBBI1986, Balai Pustaka, Jakarta). Development is an effort towards a better direction that causes changes and growth. That change can be in the sense of quality and quantity. In terms of quality means increasing the attractiveness of tourist objects through improving the quality of services. Meanwhile, quantity means the expansion of the diversity of tourism objects and other accommodations.
In an effort to develop a tourism object, strategies in its implementation are needed to make a tourist object attractive and have a high selling power. The forms of strategy carried out are strategies for promoting all tour packages, both natural tourism objects and artificial tourism objects through development programs such as:Promotion can be done through brochures distributed in hotels or public places (malls or shopping centers)Cooperate with hotels to promote tourist attractions to the international tourist market.Promotion through internet media that can be done by the Tourism Sub-Office in collaboration with sponsors who have a business network in the field of tourism.
A tourist attraction in order to become a tourist destination area, the tourist object must be ready to receive tourist arrivals by providing good service for every tourist visit.
Spilance (1990) statedthat to create a large income from tourists, other steps were taken:Improving integrated integrated services at the entrance to tourists so as to make it easier to enter and exit tourists.Improving services to tourist destinations, both basic and supporting activities
According to Yoeti (1996) there are three factors that can determine the success of tourism development as an industry. The three factors are:The availability of objects and tourist attractions is everything that is an attraction for people who visit a tourist area. For example, natural beauty, cultural products, community life procedures, traditional festivals, and religious ceremonies. The existence of accessibility, namely infrastructure and facilities with all facilities so as to make it possible for tourists to visit an area of the tourist destination. The availability of tourism facilities that can provide services to tourists during tourist trips that can be done both at home and abroad.
Damanik andWeber (2006) stated that in the development of tourism, the government plays a role and even has responsibilities in the following:Land use regulations for the development of tourism areasProtection of natural and cultural environmentsProvision of tourism infrastructureFiscal, tax, credit, and business license policySafety and comfort of travelingHealth guaranteesStrengthening tourism institutionsTourism assistance and promotionRegulation of business rivalryHuman resource development
Local communities as parties who receive tourist arrivals, need to be involved in the process of developing tourism, so that their success is more guaranteed. Various roles can be carried out by the local community in the development of tourism in their area. The roles in question are:Become a tour guideBecome a tourism companyActualizing the culture of the pastDeveloping tourism institutions
According toMahdy (1998), the role of the community in development is through its behaviorabout the awareness of every citizen to feel responsible and participate in the field of tourism known as 'tourism awareness'
The role of the community in the development of a tourist object greatly affects the comfort of tourists to visit the tourist object. As for the embodiment of the role of society in participating in the implementation of sapta pesona. Sapta pesona consists of two syllables, namely sapta and charm. Sapta means seven and charm means attractivenessso that a person feels amazed and at home.
